Engineering Internships

OUR COMPANY:

Nalu Scientific specializes in design, development, fabrication, and testing of electronic data processing systems for large scientific applications. The products include microelectronics, hardware, firmware, and software suites with related documentation and user manuals that are shipped to national labs and universities.

THE ROLE:

Our Internship Program provides both engineering and semiconductor industry experience. We offer hands-on learning opportunities by allowing our interns to contribute to real projects. All internships at Nalu Scientific are project-based. Interns are expected to work independently to drive technical tasks to completion. Much of our work is the design and development of cutting-edge Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), advanced printed circuit boards, firmware, and software. As an intern, you must be comfortable working on equipment and code where documentation is being developed. This means understanding the interaction between software and hardware and on a daily basis together with a mentor troubleshoot/debug software/firmware code issues.

REQUIRED:

Software specific skills

Must be a US permanent resident or US citizen.

Proficient in one of the following languages: Python, Rust, Embedded C.or VHDL (you will be writing code in one form or another).

Experience working with Python

Experience with algorithms and data structures

Can follow a GIT workflow

Experience with NUMPY and matplotlib

THE EXPERTISE WE'RE LOOKING FOR (GENERAL INTERN):

Hardware specific

Inquisitive, with a natural curiosity and hunger for learning.

Team player, a collaborative, self-motivated, results-oriented, fast learner who can grasp the essence and can change course quickly where indicated.

FPGA experience is preferred.

Working knowledge of git.

Experience with hand tools for testing is preferred.

Knowledge of electrical test equipment including a multimeter, oscilloscope, and adjustable power supply.

Excellent written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly and competently convey technical system design and trade information to a wide range of audiences, required.

Experience with electronics schematics and layouts

Experience reading datasheets

Experience with board bring up, initial testing, documentation

Computer engineering

Experience with FPGA or microcontroller programming

Experience with embedded systems
